Deity Information
» Pantheon: Judeo-Christian
» Deity: Lilith
» Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilith (Specifically the sections of Kabballah, the Alphabet Ben-Sera)
» Divine Family: {mother & father} None, created by God; {spouse} Adam (Divorced); {siblings} None; {children} Ailo (a daughter, also a demon)
» Mythology: Lilith’s myth is complex and often has conflicting stories. I have chosen the most well known, and common ideal of Lilith.
Lilith was the first wife of Adam. She was created at the same time, from the same soil. So she believed she was equals with her mate. However, he attempted to force her into a submissive role to him, both in life and in the bedroom. She rebelled and left the Garden of Eden. She mated with the archangel Samael, and after that experience absolutely refused to return to her old life.
What exactly became of Lilith after this point is not clearly stated in any version of her stories. However, it is a consensus that she became demonic in some fashion. And entire breed of demon was named for her called lilitu, which were night or wind demons, that were commonly associated with the seduction of men and women (depending on the demon’s gender), nocturnal emissions of men and wet dreams. Lilith was prominently known in Jewish scripture as a demonic entity in her own right, primarily as a seducer of men, and leading them astray. Lilith as a demon answered no one, and followed her own rule. It is also stated that she became the first of Samael’s four wives.

UPDATED ABILITIES: Her ambient powers effect will get a boost. Now anyone within ten feet of her will notice her immediately. Those of appropriate sexual persuasion will feel a stronger pull to speak to or otherwise interact with her. Those touching her will have to actively deal with desire for her, and the longer the touch, the greater their desire. Also she can now directly increase or decrease her allure on chosen individuals. Touch is not required. She can only do this to two people at a time.
» History:
1465- She was Claudia Mancini, a wealthy and respected courtesan. Her salon was quite popular in Florence, and she was the subject for many painters. She died of syphilis at the age of 38.
1519- She was Willamina Corrington. She became a mistress to King Henry the VIII two weeks after she was married. Her only child was a daughter that was more than likely the King’s. She enjoyed lording that knowledge over her husband’s head until the day he died.
1888- She was a prostitute named Tabitha Locklin. She worked in Whitechapel during the Jack the Ripper murders. She was once approached by a man with a medical bag and propositioned. She seduced him in an alley way and left the situation alive. Though she highly suspected she had escaped the vary man that was murdering other working girls, and she gave his description to her friends. The man never approached her again. She did not bother to tell police, doubting they would believe her.
1915- She was Evelyn Waverly, an heiress and driving financial supporter of women’s suffrage in the United States. When the constitution was amended in 1920 she was one of the first women to cast a ballot.
1987 to present- She was born Ebony Duron to Moonbeam Duron and her lover Lotus Franklin. Her lesbian mothers were advocates of free expression of love and independence. They encouraged in her a mind for critical thinking and a passion for life. In her youth, she expressed an interest in dance and her mothers were happy to support her. At the age of 18, she became a Burlesque dancer, enjoying the freedom and the male attention it brought her, rather than continue formal studying.
When some of her memories of her past began to surface, she actively spoke with her mothers about it, and they encouraged her to explore the memories. She has a good report with her family, and is ultimately open with them about who she was in her former lives. However, she has not revealed to them the core of who she is as Lilith, as neither of her parents subscribe to Judeo-Christian beliefs.
Her brother River (Lotus‘s biological son), on the other hand, and she are not on speaking terms. When they were younger, River was very protective of Ebony. Often he would scare off any boys that might have shown an interest in her. Once they were teenagers and Ebony’s abilities began to manifest, River’s behavior became increasingly out of control. It began with seemingly innocent things, like “accidentally” walking in on her while she was getting out of the shower, and hugging her a little too long. But eventually, River could no longer control himself around her. The night of their junior prom River got drunk with his friends, and came home in the early hours of the morning. He went into Ebony’s room and attempted to force himself on her.
Ebony woke up and was enraged. She managed to get him off of her, and called for her mothers. When they saw what had happened, they wanted to call the police. Ebony refused, saying she wouldn’t press charges against her brother. (Something her therapist never could really understand) Still, Lotus decided it would be best to send River away, and contacted his biological father. The day River was to leave, Ebony caught him alone. She told him that if he had just asked her, he could have had her. But instead, now he would never get to touch her again. Her last words to him were: “I hope you dream about me for the rest of your life.”
» Personality: Ebony loves independence. She enjoys her work as a dancer because it makes her feel both important and in control. She believes she is equal to anyone, even if they are male, female, less off or better off than she is, and anyone who attempts to make her feel less than them can expect to feel her sting.
She enjoys having power over men. She doesn’t want to make them subservient to her, but she likes knowing that for most of them, they can’t help but want her in some way. She is unafraid in the face of bullies, as she is unrepentant in the use of her abilities on such people. She sees her sexuality as a tool and a weapon to be wielded against those that would oppress people like her.
She also is an avid supporter of gay and lesbian rights, and donates regularly, of both money and her time. She also volunteers on the yearly staff in her neighborhood that goes to local homes and register’s people to vote. And you can also find her at her local women’s shelter. She believes that she needs to help and educate battered women. Her efforts are often to show them how strong they are and that they can fight back against oppression.
In essence, she’s an idealist. She dreams of a world where equality is the standard, not the exception, for everyone. But she doesn’t delude herself. She knows that the world is a very unfair place, and seeks to do her part in changing it for the better. Though, she is realistic enough to understand that you can’t save everyone. She has no interest in martyring herself for the cause, merely to make an effect when she can.
For Ebony, love comes slowly, because one sided love is dangerous, and with her power, she must be sure they aren’t merely under her spell. If she finds someone she cares about, her first reaction is to physically distance herself to test the truth of the emotions. If absence makes the heart grow fonder, she is more likely to proceed in a relationship. This can result in some disappointments for her, but she does not ascribe to the adage that “it is better to have loved and lost“. She prefers “better safe than sorry”.
When she is hurt, she often internalizes the emotion and puts on a mask for those around her. Despite her belief in her equality with others, she also sees tears as something others may see as weakness. And weaknesses can be exploited. Likewise, when people perceive her as weak or lesser, she is easily offended. Instances of societal conditioning of these perceptions (like someone offering to help her carry something without her asking, or opening a door for her when not on a date) can instantly trigger her ire, and she can be expected to say something on the spot.
» Other Notes: She is a headliner at a burlesque club in L.A. called Sweet Dreams. She has a very small local fame, and a following on the club’s website.
She has over ten years of dance experience including ballet, jazz, and modern styles.
UPDATE: She is the mother of an immortal son, Cian Brian Cleary (PB: Aramis Knight) by Ogma.
» Sample Journal: One of my fans brought me flowers today. He was sweet and everything and I appreciate the gesture. But just once, I’d like one of these guys to actually think before they buy me a gift. Flowers are nice and all, but they just scream of a lack of capacity to think past my gender. If they really wanted to get my attention, they’d bring me some chicken fried rice. I get so damn hungry after a set.
Hmm, now I want Chinese. Any takers?
» Sample Log:
“Excuse me,” she spoke softly, touching the sleeve of the man who was about to pass her by. He stopped and looked at her, the hints of a smile tweaking his lips. “Could I have a moment of your time?” The man looked pleased that she’d asked, agreed to listen.
“We’re trying to get a bill into the state legislature for a vote on legalizing gay marriage. Would you be willing to put your signature on our petition to help support this cause?” She offered up her clipboard and the attached pen to him, but he looked at her with a bit of bemusement.
“I’m really not a supporter of….that…sort of thing.”
She looked at him with wide, gently shocked eyes. The hand on his sleeve slid down to take his hand. “How can you not support freedom?”
“Freedom? I don’t-”
“Well, yes.” She cut him off in a sweet, eager, breathy tone. “This is the very core of freedom. The freedom to chose to be with the one you love. The one you wake up next to every morning and fall asleep next to each night. The one whom you can’t help but to reach out and touch, just so you can remind yourself they’re yours.”
The man’s head was so close to hers now. She smiled and had to pull back for him to see her eyes. And again she offered up her clipboard. “So, won’t you sign?” Her thumb stroked his wrist once, and then he took the pen and scribbled his name on an empty line.
“Anything for a, uh, good cause.” He cleared his throat as she stepped back. Her smile like the sun shown on him for a brief moment while she thanked him. Then she turned away to talk to a woman walking towards her. The poor man was left to wonder what had just happened to him.
