» Divine Family: {Mother and Father} Eri & Elathan; {Spouse} none; {Siblings} Children of Elathan; {children} none
» Mythology: Bres was born of two races of gods, the Tuatha De Danann and the Fomorians. The Tuatha had arrived on Ireland's shores to find the Fomorians, who had been there for centuries. The Tuatha were considered being of civilization and humanity while the Fomorians were beings of chaos and the wild. The differences of their natures eventually led to conflict between the two peoples. Through their wars, rulership of the island passed between them several times, Tuatha ruling the Fomorians, and vice-a-versa.

It was during this state of affairs that Eri, a Tuatha goddess, fell in love with the Fomorian prince, Elatha, who fathered a child by her. However Elatha would return to his people, leaving a ring behind for Eri to give to the one person to whom it would fit. Eri would give birth to Bres, whose name is often cited as meaning "beautiful". As a child he grew quickly, at seven years old he had the appearance of a fourteen-year old. While intelligent and handsome, he was also harsh and inhospitable.

Bres would rise to power following the Tuatha's war with a race of natives known as the Fir Bolgs. During the concluding battle, the Tuatha-king Nuada's hand was cut off. By Tuatha law, Nuada was now imperfect and no longer fit to rule. It was into this vacuum that Bres stepped into power. However, Bres was not a popular king. He greatly favored his Formorian kin at the expense of the Tuatha, forcing them to pay the Fomorians tribute. This bias extended into a mistreatment of the Tuatha, forcing them to perform various menial tasks and not offering them the traditional hospitality traditionally due them by their king. This unpopular reign in fact inspired Ireland's first satire.

Bres was eventually exiled when the previous king, Nuada, had a new arm of silver crafted for him, enabling him to resume his rule. Bres, his mother, and a number of his followers went to Fomorian lands, seeking his father for aid to regain his throne. When asked how he lost his kingship by his father, Bres was very frank and honest regarding his maltreatment of the Tuatha. His father refused to help him due to his son's injustice, but instead directed him to the Fomorian chief, Balor, who was more inclined to aid Bres. Bres himself would lead the attack, but the Tuatha would claim victory. Bres was found alive in the battle's aftermath, and was spared in exchange for him sharing his knowledge of agriculture with the Tuatha, which Bres agreed to do. Bres' role among the gods is considerably lessened after this point.

» Family: {Mother and Father} Jeffrey & Marilyn Maddox (alive); {marital status/spouse} single/none; {siblings} none; {children} none; {pets} none
» Occupation: CEO of Maddox Technologies
» Currently Residing In: Savannah, Georgia
» Ability: Bres remains highly charismatic, supernaturally so, and can engender strong loyalty in his employees in spite of his flaws, a highly effective demagogue and compelling orator, Bres' intelligence and cunning allow him to constantly manipulate people convincingly, even if proven to be in the wrong. Also, his unique nature as both a Tuatha and Fomorian, gives him a dual state-of-mind. He sees aspects of a person rarely noticeable at an initial meeting. This grants him great insights into the character of whomever he is speaking with, making him an effective reader of human emotion.
» History: Even after his defeat, Bres' ambition and desire for power remained strong within him. However, he learned a valuable lesson from his time as Ireland's king. While just as ambitious as ever, he was careful to be less frequent with his excesses and more tolerant of his subjects. He still had his favorites, which he often kept close by, he was less likely to resort to petty cruelties to those he did not favor, as he remembered all too well his exile and defeat. The people became viable resources, and if properly cultivated could bring great rewards.

UPDATED ABILITIES: Bres' charisma is partially hypnotic and at will he can shift his voice from its natural speech to carrying on hypnotic overtones capable of getting people to do as he says. Strong-willed people like the godlings can resist this. Bres now has the power to change into a Fomorian-form granting him super-strength and durability, but only while transformed. It is also harder to assert his calmer impulses in this form.
Additional Attribute: In Fomorian form he has the appearance of a bestial, but still human seeming man.

SECOND UPDATE: Can now control his transformations between Fomori and Tuatha at will.

In 1237, he was born Asadai, a grandson of Genghis Khan. He applied his newly gained insights and created a small, but formidable territory in the wake of his grandfather's death and the constant fighting between his relatives. While small, it was prosperous, and its defenses were fortified by loyal troops and content citizens who valued the relative prosperity compared to their neighbors. While Bres contemplated conquest, he knew not to overreach himself, and instead waiting for his neighbors to exhaust themselves before moving in. Despite his seeming enlightenment, Asadai sometimes acted in a much more violent matter. These incidents included cutting off a subordinate's ear, personally drowning an ambassador in a bucket of water while calmly humming a song, and murdered a maid who caught him talking to himself naked in the dining hall. These incidents were infrequent enough not to have him killed, but it still made them wary of their brilliant, but eccentric leader.

In 1570 he was born Jibril al-Laqit, a member of a prominent family during the rule of the Saadian Dynasty of Morocco. He eventually grew up to be a prominent adviser to the Saadi sultans, often manipulating his fellows into recommending suggestions he himself did not want to be directly associated with. Through his cunning, he became one o the most powerful political figures of the period, though no one was ever aware of just how far his reach extended. At times he held more power than the Sultan, and commanded the loyalty of prominent officials, but he never overstepped his capabilities. He would never had been accepted as Sultan, so instead he was content to remain the power behind the throne, knowing who truly ruled Morocco. However, he was not immune from the eccentricities of his previous lifetime. If anything, they were more frequent, but better hidden than before. He would debate politics and philosophy with a stuffed caricature in his chambers, once throwing a fellow adviser from his bedroom window in a fit of anger, and once planned and enacted the systematic destruction of a fruit vendor's life because the man had tried to swindle him.;

His current incarnation was born Christopher Maddox on June 12, 1981, the son of manufacturing magnate, Jeffrey Maddox and his wife, Marilyn. Growing up, Christopher showed a natural intelligence and charisma and was a straight-A student in school. Christopher however would show symptoms of the seeming madness of his previous lives upon entering college, where he had viciously attacked the school quarterback over a derogatory comment, deleted and typed up a new itinerary as retaliation against a hated professor, and even created a controlled fire, burning up the dean's office. Only the attack was credited to Christopher, who was disciplined, but also taken to a doctor, who said that Christopher was severely bi-polar, meaning he had incredible difficult controlling his emotional state. He was prescribed medication that allowed him to better control the impulses brought on by his wavering states of emotion. It was during this time his memories as Bres started coming back to him. He soon realized that his emotional problems were because his mortal body being unable to properly handle the dual-nature of being part Tuatha and part Fomorian, and as such this conflict manifested in his oft-unpredictable mood-swings.

While he still had to contend with his mental problems, Christopher was now properly medicated and soon began to work for his father's company. A firm believer in meritocracy, Chris had to work his way up the ranks like any other employee. However, it wasn't too long before Bres had worked his way up the company hierarchy, acquiring a personal following along the way. So when his father became too ill for active leadership, Chris was chosen to take his father's place. However, out of a sense of sentimentality to the man who helped calm his mind for the first time in his mortal existence, Bres insisted on being "acting" CEO, maintaining that his father was still head of the company. Now Bres controls his father's powerful and influential manufacturing company, planning to diversify its services and grow it even larger. If this was at the expense of companies..so much the better.

» Personality: Outwardly Christopher is charming, outgoing, and an empathetic listener. In truth he reserves his respect for those either loyal to him or whose talents are obvious. He only truly loves his mortal parents, any woman he's dated has either been a fling or a means to an end. Oddly enough, he is always very frank with these women in the beginning and thus has rarely ended a relationship on bad footing. He has only entertained the possibility of marriage if the woman in question was someone he highly respected and could trust, love would have little to do with it. This frankness has at times found its way into his role as an executive. While as manipulative as ever, he prefers to imply and insinuate rather than outright lie. As he has said, "The truth is far too much fun." On the opposite end, Bres' Fomorian nature sometimes manifests, despite the medication he takes. When sufficiently provoked he can have a terrible anger and may hold grudges over small slights for years. One minute he may calmly be talking and the next he hurls a glass across the room. He has taken up kickboxing as a way to vent these frustrations in order to give him greater control of his mood-swings, but several of his top aides are aware their employer may not be entirely sane.

» Other Notes: He speaks and understands Spanish, Arabic, and passable Mandarin Chinese. He is a competent kickboxer, though not professionally. Bres is straight, though choosy in his taste in women.

» Sample Journal: The numbers for this month's profits have increased significantly, I'll have to make sure to give Todd and Selina a nice bonus for their hard work. Jack reported that Henderson made a comment about "unplugging the old man." ...note to self, see to it that knowledge of Henderson's affair reaches his wife. Also be sure to encourage the local gangbangers to vandalize his car. Also, keep a closer eye on Jack, he's been kissing up a lot more lately.

» Sample Log:

"All right, everyone here? Good," Chris says, standing up as his executives watched him attentively. "Mr. Sanders, has our acquisition of Trion Electronics gone smoothly?"

"Yes, Mr. Maddox," a bespectacled, middle-aged man replied. Travis Sanders had been with his father for years and had easily transferred his loyalty to his son. The man's competence and worth were unquestioned. "We offered jobs to those you cited and fired the rest."

"Very good, Mr. Sanders. Ms. Costello, how are our negotiations with the Chinese representatives going?"

A beautiful woman of mixed African-American and Hispanic extraction replied. "Good for the most part, sir, but they're trying to hold out for a bigger concession of profits." Linda Costello had not been with the company long, but she had proven herself capable, efficient, and more than willing to get her hands dirty if the boss needed something off-the-books-done. So far has proven to be an excellent employee, highly ambitious, time would tell if that would work for him or against him.

"I'll be sure to talk to them about that. Mr. Isaacs..how has your investigation into who has been feeding the press details of our work?"

"We don't have a lead yet, but it's only a matter of time." Jarrod Isaacs, born-bureaucrat and overall incompetent. The man hadn't been useful in months..but he had played one final service to the company.

"Good, it's a shame though that those reporters are about to print a story that has no basis in fact at all."

Isaacs blanched. "What do you mean, Mr. Maddox."

"Oh? You didn't know? There was never any project being set up in that area. I only told a few people about it." Christopher was behind Isaacs now, smiling devilishly. "They won't find a damn thing and will likely be pretty pissed at their so-called source."

He gulps once. "Mr. Mad-"

"Shut up and listen. You've got the money owed you for your work, minus the money you cost me with your loose lips. Heh, come to think of it, you probably owe us more money than we owe you. My point is you're finished here. Collect your things and get out." He leans in to whisper, his hand digging a little in the older man's shoulder. "I suggest you find another line of work. It's not suited for you." He looked casual, but spoke with the slightest hint of a threat implied.

"Yes s-sir," the man seemed grateful he was being allowed to leave under his own power, which he was wise to be. It wouldn't be until he tried to apply at a new company that he would find himself completely blacklisted. Nobody crossed him and got away with it.
