Astarte joined the godlings, but did not get a chance to introduce herself before strange things began to happen.
Nigel was sent to Scotland to confer with a certain three witches. He coaxed their participation into an unspoken deed...
That evening, as many were preparing for Halloween festivities (costume parties and the like), each of the godlings in turn was brought back to L'Hôtel Jeu Ancien in their costumes. They only had a moment of lucidness upon their arrival before their memories disappeared and they literally became their costumes: Kali a belly dancer, Seth as Tony Montana, Aphrodite as Queen Titania, Arthur Pendragon as the Devil, Sif and Tyr as Rapunzel and her Prince, Ariadne as Lara Croft, Hades as Harry Dresden, Bastet as Catwoman, Triton as Captain Jack Sparrow, Urania as the Vulcan T'Selek, Frigg as a nurse, Apollo as the Goblin King Jareth, Persephone as Poison Ivy, Gawain as a 1940s private eye, Loki as a court jester, Achilles in his uniform, Astarte as Morticia Addams, and Dionysus as Elvis. Asclepius was supposed to have been the Big Bad Wolf to Nimue's Red Riding Hood, and while he was transformed into a literal wolf, he retained his human mind and memories--and Nimue never showed up at the hotel at all (nor did Medusa or Odin). Erato, dressed as a fallen angel, was the only one to retain her shape and identity entirely.
The godlings all gathered in the ballroom as Nigel announced that they were to do a scavenger hunt to find six objects--one for each pantheon--containing a clue. The only way they would regain their memories and be permitted to leave the hotel would be to locate them. Nigel did not say so, but they only had until Halloween Night itself to find them, as he had asked for the spell on them to last at least that long.
Triton in his unaware state was attempting to get friendly with Urania, and she rebuffed him. Asclepius, recognizing the Muse for who she was, even though she didn't know him in his wolf form, snapped at Triton, startling him enough that he backed into and broke a vase, revealing the clue for the Greeks, which hinted at the location for Poseidon's Trident.
Astarte, heading for refreshments, found the Egyptian clue in a pyramid of bonbons, and was soon reunited with Seth and Bastet. Seth was a bit wary, and stepped out of the ballroom to be with Kali.
In the empty lobby, Seth and Kali wasted little time before engaging in another sex session rough enough that it shook a porcelain elephant to the floor, which broke, revealing the clue for the Hindus (which she thought might have to do with her necklace)... and helped Kali for the first time start to remember her divine identity.
Gawain and Arthur wandered into the lobby shortly after Seth and Kali had finished their romp and the discovery of her clue, and found their own in a hidden compartment in an Irish shellelagh--one that hinted at the Grail's location. Gawain decided that they should try to find Loki for his help in getting the manuscript that detailed it. Before heading off, though, Arthur opened up a singing fish on the wall, and found a clue for the Judeo-Christians, who had yet to show any representation.
Loki had headed for the bar shortly after Nigel had announced the scavenger hunt, and was soon joined by Erato, brokenhearted that no one she cared about remembered or recognized her due to the effects of the spell. He tried to cheer her up somewhat, and was soon making passes at her. He ordered her another soda, which he "accidentally" spilled on her costume, and used the incident as an excuse to begin licking and groping her. Erato tried to resist him, and it was fortunate that just then Arthur entered the area and punched Loki to get him off the young Muse. Gawain offered to get her something to put over her wet costume, while Arthur continued to scold Loki for his actions. Noticing a Viking ship in a bottle over the bar, Loki asked to see it. Breaking it open revealed a clue that Loki did not reveal to his fellow Norse.
Everyone's memories returned, they were allowed to go back home and discover they had, again, only lost one second of time. Nimue, Odin and Medusa were all still missing, vanished without a trace, however.
