» Pantheon: Norse
» Deity: Sigyn
» Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigyn ,
» Divine Family: Loki- Husband. Narfi- Son. Vali - Son (probably).
» Mythology: Sigyn, wife of Loki, is an Aesir goddess (as opposed to a Jotun). Her marriage to Loki cemented his adoption into the Aesir.
She bore him two children and, as goddess of fidelity, stuck by him through thick, thin, the brutal butchering of their son Narfi, and Loki's being bound with Narfi's guts under a dripping snake for his crimes.
For years, Sigyn stood beside him in the underground cave in which he was imprisoned, holding a bowl under the snake, catching the venom until the bowl was full. She left only to empty it and hurry back --preferably before the earthquake got too bad.

» Current Name: Seoyun Genevieve Meijer
» Birthdate: November 10, 1972
» Height: 5'9
» Family: Martin and Eun Meijer, parents
» Occupation: hospice nurse
» Currently Residing In: Los Angeles, California
» Ability: Sigyn endures. Her body is resistent to most forms of toxin. This includes, to a small extent, fatigue toxins, allowing her to go longer than most without rest.
UPDATED ABILITIES: Sigyn's resistence to poisons and fatigue toxins is upped to being practically invulnerable, in a less 'Superman' and more just 'really, really tough' sort of way.
» History: This is Sigyn's first reincarnation.
Seoyun Genevieve Meijer was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. An army brat, she moved around some, but always managed to live happily and fairly quietly on base with her parents. Her memories started resurfacing relatively early. The flash of an underground cave as she helped her mother with the dishes and held the mixing bowl. Thoughts of Loki when Tammy Wynette played on her father's stereo. The memories tended to make her even more of a homebody, since dating didn't feel right, once she could remember her marriage.
S.G. went to nursing school, and once she had the requisite experience, ended up getting specialty certification in hospice nursing, a field in which most burn out and switch specializations very quickly.
S.G.'s been at it for eighteen years, caring for person after person while watching them die. She doesn't burn out. She doesn't seem to get any more tired than the slightly bedraggled way she stands by the beds most of the time.
Fairly recently, her parents moved back to Hawaii while she stayed with her job in California. That's when she ended up catching a magic show on television.
She has now watched every TV and Web presentation of Sky Traveler's productions that there is.
» Personality: Sigyn gets by. She turns the other cheek. A lot. Sure, technically she's only got four of them, but she can keep turning. She answers to Seoyun, but some people can' pronounce that, so she went by S.G. in school and still goes by it sometimes. She'll also answer to the names of every sister, lost love, daughter, or pet her patients ever had, since once they reach that point, they're not always %100 on recollection. And what's important, she says, is that someone is there. To change the bandages and listen to what they're saying.
Just don't expect her to take a stand -- except by the hospital bed, or a loved one's side. If someone makes an error in scheduling or on her paychecks and refuses to admit it, she drops the subject. It's more important to focus on patient care, right? It's not like those things are important.
She misses her parents and calls them every day. She misses a lot of people from the Old Days, but who knows what happened to them. She misses Loki, sees his face nearly every time she stares at the fireplace, but she isn't going to track him down and bother him. She misses a lot of people, really.
She also really is getting sick of death, but she won't admit it. Her patients need her. Sure, she can't save them, but she can make it easier, and that's worth it, no matter how emotionally exhausting it is.
Sigyn likes to consider herself fairly self-aware. She doesn't have any delusions about becoming rich, or being brilliant. She's not a good dancer, and she doesn't play drums. Her Saturday nights -- when not working -- are spent curled up in front of the TV with a jar of peanuts or a can of pineapple. She acknowledges she may be a bit codependent... and she's a single woman whose parents have moved away. But it's not like she needs to see a psychiatrist or something. Whatever little problems she has, they're not important.
But she keeps a clean house, she makes a very good chicken soup, her parents love her, and her patients have a lot less pain than they would with some newbie who didn't know what she was doing. She's content with that. A little lonely, but content.
» Sample Journal: Mr. Ramirez passed today. I'm glad his suffering is over, and that I could make it easier. I tried to help his family through it as much as possible. And then on to the next patient. It's a long shift tonight, but I have something special on Tivo afterwards.
